About Tango Petaluma

Donna Agoitia formed Tango Petaluma in 2004 to help grow and unify the Argentine Tango community in the Northbay region of the greater SF Bay Area region in Northern California. To create a place nearby for tango dancers to dance, practice, and learn locally. The Bay Area now has the largest Argentine Tango community in the U.S.

Donna Agoitia started ballet at the age of 4 and has danced one thing or another since, eventually finding latin dance and a connection to her latin roots. As a child, she and her siblings could be found dancing in the living room to many kinds of popular music throughout their years of growing up. She trained for both dancing and teaching Tango predominantly with Ken Delmar and Natasha Ng in San Francisco. She has travelled to Buenos Aires to study and dance Tango along with classes and workshops locally. Her dance and teaching has also been influenced by Judy & Jon, Alisa & Alejandro, Mimi Santapa, Carlos Costes & Corina Mele, Paulo Araujo and Aurora Lubiz' women's technique classes. Her classes are about instilling awareness in her students, bringing it from the head and into the body and soul. Fun, is the key word to anything Donna does!

Several times a year Donna hosts visiting teachers in Petaluma for workshops, classes and private lessons. See the events page for more information.

The classes are small, fun and each student gets quite a bit of individual attention. See the class page for more information.

I extend many thanks to the Northbay tango dancers for helping support this endeavor. Without you it would be nothing.
